Well lately, I started to look into what my doll would look like in the meantime he's in the making (if you're waiting for one to arrive from a company. or just saving up for said doll)
Although. I have a wig laying around for my upcoming one I want to use. I tend to keep myself busy preparing for this doll, I grab another doll, put the wig on (which is hilarious too) I put the wig I want to use for the doll on Nolan. And I assure you super long pornblonde hair, does NOT suit him.
Anyways. I also spend my time on tumblr a lot, or pretty much anywhere, I always save images just in case it might inspire me later. Such as things for make-up, hair, nails, eye color, clothing... And most importantly. Tattoos..........
So for now I've started doing the hair, which is done now.
I also have the body here, which is a coincidence.
But I'm sure everyone, in the meantime browses around, looking for clothing, eyes, stuff for their new doll right?? So that's nothing new.
But in case you dont even have money yet to buy stuff for him/her. I also tend to draw out ideas of how i want the face-up to look like, or browse pictures for it. And ofc as I said, tattoos. It's nice to look around for pictures to inspire you, or even music. Sometimes I even develope my characters based on music or ofc writing them out. Or hobbies, work, the way they live. It's a nice thing to write or think about, and it keeps you busy while you wait... And wait..... And then when he finally gets there (taking a boy for example now, this could apply to both genders ofc) he's already, done and ready to be enjoyed.
I have his wig ready, eyes and some other stuff is on the way. I've drawn some examples of eyebrows (I have a thing with eyebrows) Have a fair idea for a cool face-up.
And have yet to start on his body, like add tattoos. Anything.
Sadly, if you dont have all that, your choices are fairly limited. But I hope I gave some good tips.
And if you dont have much money to spend now, how about making things for them??? Like props? Beds, books.. Anything your newcomer might use or enjoy.
Maybe, in the meantime, add stuff you DO want to buy for him/her to your favorites, so you can buy it later. I do this too.
I have the slight idea these tips are horribly useless and even the most simple person could come up with this, but nonetheless I hope they were at least a bit helpfull. Sadly they're mostly based on my own abilities and what I can do. Since I do most of my own doll's faceups, tattoos, mostly anything but making props or mods, or... Clothes. I cant sew and I'm bad at all that. But mostly things on the doll itself, is what I can do.
I'm sure there's a lot out there that are good with their hands, crafty and such. Be creative. Gather ideas with friends, brainstorm, or even if your friend has a doll coming in, make up a story together. Maybe they can be friends? Family...? Lovers? That way you're enjoying... But also going through the torture together?
I dont know! Meeeeppp... Kim's out. This was messy and done too fast. If anyone has any questions. Dun hesitate to ask.

Damn I dont know. thats a good one... From scratch i have no idea haha. use Qtips for flaws? damn i suck
And lol, Qtips? Not sure what they are XD;; I'll keep my eye out for them
What I can't do, because it usually turns out a work in vain: planning out the character details. I can plan general things, like the role in the group or what their job might be, but many things, especially how they would act, talk, mannerisms and such, start to unveil when I have the actual doll in hands. Many times what I planned (I can't stop myself from planning anyway, haha) turns out to be useless, because I look at the doll and see something else.
When working with a Doll of colour (...that sounds weird...) when doing face ups, and you're generally going for a while and blue type of thing, what's the best material to use that will would stay on better? Thank you for the time! <3
Woah I actually dont know to be honest, i just use my materials and they work fine..
